Google Shopping Ads Setup Guide
Google Shopping ads display your products with images, prices, and reviews directly in search results. They consistently deliver the highest ROI for eCommerce advertisers.
Getting Started
1. Create a Google Merchant Center account
2. Submit your product feed (Shopify and WooCommerce have apps that automate this)
3. Link Merchant Center to your Google Ads account
4. Create a Shopping campaign
Product Feed Optimization
Your product feed is the foundation. Optimize: product titles (include key attributes like brand, size, color), descriptions (detailed and keyword-rich), high-quality images (white background, multiple angles), accurate pricing and availability, and proper product categories.
Campaign Structure
Separate products into ad groups by category, brand, or margin. This lets you set different bids for different products based on profitability. High-margin products can afford higher bids.
Performance Max Campaigns
Google now pushes Performance Max, which uses AI to serve your products across Search, Shopping, Display, YouTube, and Gmail. It works well but requires good conversion data to optimize effectively.
