Creating TikTok Ad Content That Works
TikTok ads that look like ads fail. TikTok ads that look like content win. Here's the formula.
The TikTok Creative Formula
Hook (0-3 seconds): Open with something that stops the scroll. A bold claim, surprising visual, or relatable problem. "Stop buying $200 face cream" works better than "Introducing our new moisturizer."
Value (3-20 seconds): Deliver on the hook. Show the product, demonstrate results, or tell a quick story. Keep it fast-paced.
CTA (last 3-5 seconds): Tell viewers what to do. Keep it casual — "Link in bio" or "Tap to shop."
Content Types That Perform
1. "Get ready with me" featuring your product
2. Before/after transformations
3. "POV" scenarios
4. Response to comments or trends
5. Founder/behind-the-scenes stories
6. UGC from real customers
Production Tips
Shoot vertical (9:16). Use natural lighting. Film on a phone (studio quality feels out of place). Add captions — most viewers watch without sound. Use trending sounds when they fit naturally.
Testing at Scale
Create 5-10 variations per campaign. TikTok's algorithm decides winners quickly — you'll know within 48 hours which creatives work. Cut losers fast and iterate on winners.
